The following are two different ways in which individuals can activate DUO 2FA on their new smartphone to maintain their access to Mason services (i.e. PatriotWeb) and enterprise software (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Zoom, etc.):


Method #1: Connecting Existing Account to New Device:


1.  If you still have access to your old smartphone, please ensure that the DUO mobile app is still installed on your device since this will assist you in having immediate access to George Mason University's services while activating DUO 2FA on your new smartphone.  However, if you no longer have your old device or if the app is no longer installed, proceed to the next step.




2. Download and install the DUO mobile app from your smartphone's App Store.  




3. On your new smartphone, visit password.gmu.edu and sign in with your NetID and current password.





4. Once you are signed in, a DUO 2FA Authentication Verification prompt will appear on-screen. You will need to select the Call Me option and follow each step in the automated call.





5. Once you have completed the steps in the call and have signed in to Patriot Pass Management, you will next need to select the 2FA Account option on the left side of the home screen.





6. Next, you will need to select Add A New Device and then follow the subsequent steps that will appear on the screen.






7. Once your new phone has been added to the Your 2FA device(s) section, you will need to delete your old phone by clicking the trash icon next to your old device's name and number.







Method #2: Re-Enroll into DUO 2FA: 


1. The alternative method of using DUO 2FA on your new device is to reset your account and re-enroll in the service.  To reset your account, you will need to submit a 2FA Account Reset Request form.  Once the form has been submitted and your account has been reset, you will receive a confirmation email at the email address included on the form with further guidance on how to re-enroll in the service.
