Issue: When you swipe your ID card the Canon MFC screen doesn't display any connection or user information.

Solution A - Quick: Follow the black cable from the card reader to the hatch on the right of the MFC. Open up the door and located the USB connection to the MFC. Unplug the USB cable and plug it back in. Now try to swipe your ID.

Solution B - Slower: Located the power button on the lower right hand side of the MFC. The power button is covered with a clear piece of plastic to prevent accidentally turning it off. Turn off the Canon MFC and wait 2 minutes for the MFC to fully shut down. Turn the Canon MFC back on and when it is fully back on try to swipe your ID card again.
