One of the most common PC-related issues entails the built-in speakers and microphone not working.  Luckily, this is a very simple and straightforward issue that can be resolved in the following steps:

Solution #1 Change Input Device in Settings:

1. Assure that you have the correct audio device assigned to the application you are using by visiting Settings > Devices > Sound Settings

2. Select the dropdown arrow next to the input device and select your preferred microphone.

Solution #2 Modify Privacy Settings:

1. If the first solution did not work, an alternative method of resolving this issue is to visit Settings > Privacy > Microphone.

2. Ensure that "Allow apps to access your microphone" and "Allow desktop apps to access your microphone" is toggled to ON.

3. Additionally, you can also choose which apps have permission to use your microphone.

Solution #3 Update Device Driver:

1. Lastly, if the prior two solutions did not resolve your issue, you can also try updating your audio driver by visiting Device Manager > Audio inputs and outputs.

2. Expand the Audio inputs and outputs option by clicking on the arrow to the left of the option > right-click on Microphone Array (Realtek(R) Audio) > select Update Driver.

3. Select Search automatically for drivers and proceed to install any available updates.

4. Proceed to test your microphone once the updates have been successfully installed.
